Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the state, generating strong winds topping 109km/h.

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.

Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
